The love of Christ, Avoiding Rainbow Brownies, and a warning about the Theater’s new musical (Monday Update)

Sermon for 5/19/24

For the Day of Pentecost, Pastor Bramwell preached on John 14:23-24, asking: “To whose word do you listen? Man’s or God’s?” The right answer should be God’s, but too often we listen to man’s words. He relied heavily on a sermon preached by Martin Luther during the Lutheran Reformation

Episode 12: Is this lecture about how to talk to sexually confused sinners a poop brownie?

A viewer sent in a troubling (publicly posted) video of a retired LCMS pastor publicly teaching erroneous things about the LGBTQ at a 2024 Michigan District theology conference. In this episode of Truth at All Costs, we review his presentation, learn why his use of words like husband and cisgender are bad, and open the Scriptures to consider whether he has been duped by the world’s lies. Plus, we drop the new Poop Brownie Tacky Tee design.

Contemporary Worship and Suffering for Jesus (Sunday Update)

Sermon for 5/12/24

For the Seventh Sunday of Easter Pastor Bramwell preached about the reality that many American Christians are unfaithful. Nevertheless, the Lord promised to vindicate His great name which every Christian bears. When we are insulted for the sake of Christ, we are blessed. Let us not reject it, but live in the absolution of Christ and suffer with Him.

Episode 11: Contemporary worship is woke! Let’s talk about worship practices.

Criminal co-eds took over college campuses. They say it’s about Palestine, but it’s really about despising Romans 13. But what does this evil have to do with our Concordia Universities? If you said DEI, you guessed it.

What should young pastors who are just entering the ministry, and indeed all pastors and all Christians know about the role of the pastor? What is his job? What has he been called to do in the parish? Rev. C.F.W. Walther gives us the foundation and then Rev. Theodore Graebner fleshes out the reality that your pastor should be all about studying and preaching. Plus news about upcoming content!

Episode 8: Are all people made in the image of God? Is that why humans should be treated with dignity?

We hear from both the right and the left, both inside and outside the Church that all people are made in the image of God. Is this true? What does Scripture say about who is made in the image of God? What has the historic Church taught about who is made in the image of God? Are babies born in the image of God? Are transgender people made in the image of God? Ephesians 4:24 and Colossians 3:10 have the answer. Let’s study them along with Tertullian, Augustine, Martin Luther and the Lutheran Reformers, Johann Gerhard, A.L. Graebner, and Francis Pieper.

To answer these questions we’ll listen to what Andrew Klavan of the Daily Wire, a convert from Judaism to Christianity, has to say about the statement and then hear what the excommunicated Corey Mahler has to say about Klavan’s Christian confession in relation to his Jewish ethnicity.

Jesus Humbled Himself for You! (Sunday Update)

Sermon for 3/24/24

Episode 5: What can we do to drive people away from Jesus?

After disarming the population, Canada’s government is now advising upstanding citizens to give gun-toting bad guys their cars. The Pittsburgh police won’t respond to 911 calls concerned with burglary, and a pastor in Connecticut has formed an armed brigade to protect his neighbors. Response times to 911 calls are reported to have tripled to over 2 hours in some American cities, and our governing authorities continue to push for laws that support evil and terrorize good. We’re getting into all of this and more this week on the Truth at All Costs.

Episode 4: What can we do to drive people away from Jesus?

Do you embrace diversity? Neither do we but according to a re-post on X.com, KFUO Radio does. Let’s talk about it. Along the way, we’ll discuss women’s ordination, confessing Christ against the spirit of the world as it is in our generation, learn a thing or two from Francis Schaeffer, and a look at the faithful disposition of the global church, especially in Ghana! Stick around. This is the Truth at All Costs!

Jesus Feeds You Miraculously (Sunday Update)

Sermon for 3/10/24

For the Third Sunday in Lent, Pastor Bramwell preached on the three uses of the Law from all three Scriptures readings. The podcast and video versions were produced for the benefit of those who were unable to attend the Divine Service and for the evangelism effort of the congregation.

Episode 3: What will you do in the face of evil? Offer your head like Mark Robinson? Let’s ask Martin Luther.

Are you a farting peasant? How do you know? Maybe you don’t know what you don’t know, you know? How should the Christian act in light of ridicule and in the midst of an evil culture? Nice, right? At all times, always be nice. Is that true? I don’t know if #MarkRobinson would agree with you, and I know #MartinLuther wouldn’t. In this episode, given that it’s no longer Black History Month, we’re going to see from Frederick Douglass, Martin Luther, and Paul how the nice-at-all-costs attitude supports evil. There’s a time to blind your adversary and a time to assassinate his character. Yes, there’s even a time for farting peasants. Are you a farting peasant? Find out on this week’s episode of the Truth at All Costs.

Episode 2: When words don’t match what they symbolize, that’s called a lie!

Many listeners of Cross Defense want to know why I terminated my contract with KFUO. I tell you in this video as we talk about symbols, creeds, and confessions, as well as Dylan Mulvaney, Google’s Gemini, a female pastor who kicked the Bible to entertain goats and a cop-thief, plus, we consult Soren Kierkegaard, Rod Dreher, and Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn… and so much more on this tacky episode of the Truth at All Costs!
