This Week’s Sign (6/26/23 – 7/2/23)

The owners of the Old Steeple have made it clear that they are in full support of bringing LGBTQ sin to Ferndale. Beyond flying the Pride flag on the side of their old church in January they offered their venue (the same one where they host music lessons for all ages—including children) to Lost Coast Pride so that the non-profit could bring an all-ages drag show to our city. Most recently Paul Beatie and Cheri March (owners of the Old Steeple) coordinated with the same LGBTQ organization to gather protestors at their site for the June 25, 2023, march where, among other things, a local Roman Catholic monk was harassed while trying to get into his church to officiate Sunday’s Latin Mass.

Ferndale’s Chamber of Commerce, like its member, The Old Steeple, continues to promote the queering of Ferndale: The Board wrote a letter to the City Council, lobbying them to pass the anti-hate resolution that was ultimately defeated in April, the Chamber’s email signature is a confession of how they aim to market our city to the world, and at least one of the Chamber’s Board members, Caroline Titus, marched in Lost Coast Pride’s parade—and added insult to injury in her tweet about the above mentioned Roman Catholic monk.
