Prayer of the Church

F-15 Nativity of St. John (Lu 1.57-67)In the Divine Service God speaks to us and then we speak back to Him what He has said to us. Gathered in Jesus’ name, we bring petitions and thanksgivings before Him that grow out of His Word. This prayer is called the Prayer of the Church for in it the royal priesthood of all believers does the priestly work of making “supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings for all men, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, Godly and dignified in every way” (1 Timothy 2:1-6).
